As previously mentioned, our dental clinic encourages the use of fluoride treatments in two different ways, the first being topical fluoride. Topical fluoride can be used through gels, toothpaste, and mouth rinses. This option helps to strengthen the teeth and fight against decay. A topical fluoride treatment is recommended during your biannual dental exams and cleanings with our clinic. The second option is systemic fluoride. Systemic fluoride is available to use through water sources and many foods. This method contributes to protecting erupted teeth and those still under the gums. Your dentist can also provide you with a systemic fluoride treatment in a drop or gel form. This option is recommended for young children with developing teeth.
